The shape of the feet in this seat is shaped like a lotus. So that's why it is called as Padmasana or Lotus Position.
It is also called as Kamalasana.

How to do Padmasana or Lotus Position
1. Sit back in a comfortable seat.
2. While doing laxative (exhaling), place the right foot on the left thigh. Place the left foot on the right thigh. Or you can put the left foot first and then the right foot.
3. The soles of the feet should be up and down under the heel, with the knees touching the ground.
4. Head, neck, chest, spine etc. The whole section should be straight and rigid.
5. Put the both hands with Dnyan Mudra on both knees (If the thumb is placed on the index finger with the remaining three fingers straight, it becomes Dnyan Mudra). Or
6. Place your left hand on the thigh. The base should be on top. Same way put your right hand on right thigh. The fingers of both hands will be held together.
Time: 1 Minute to 1 Hour.
